I do apologize for the hiatus, but I just got back from Mexico! I wanted to take some time to rest up, get caught up at work, self care, etc, before coming back to blogging. I am back now, and promise to be more consistent!
All about Mexico:
So my boyfriend, and I went to Playa del Carmen, Mexico for vacation. The timing was perfect, as it was also my birthday week, and Valentine’s Day week. Imagine that! Your birthday, and Valentine’s day in a foreign country with your significant other. It was AMAZING!
I lived in Florida for 3 years, before moving back up north, so the weather there was perfect for me. Low to mid 80s, and a nice cool breeze. Humidity was minimal. I had my hair in braids, so I’m happy that it wasn’t a concern, but I was prepared if it was 😀
We stayed in a boutique hotel on 5th avenue while visiting. I wanted a boutique hotel because prior to this trip I had never been outside of the country. I wanted to get the most authentic experience, without giving up too much luxury, and that is exactly what I got.
While in Mexico we took advantage of the parks. We went to Xel-ha, and Xplor which were in Tulum. Tulum is known for it’s Mayan ruins, and history, but we did not get a chance to check those out.
While at Xel-ha we went snorkeling in a lagoon, and swam through cenotes. Cenotes are natural occurring pits, and derived from the mayan word for “well”.
In Xplor we went zip lining, and got to go on the amphibious vehicles, and travel through the caves, and really take in the scenery.
*Warning* It is a lot of walking! If you’re like me, and have thighs that rub together when you walk, you may want to invest in some athletic shorts, that are long enough to cover that area. There are water activities so please be sure to bring a change of clothing as well. No need to stress if you have forgotten something, the staff in the gift shops are very friendly and will help you find whatever you need.

While on vacation I took advantage of getting on the ferry to Cozumel. We used Ultramar, and the tickets were about $10 USD. The ride itself was about 45 minutes, and on the boat was a live band! They played songs and Spanish, and there was also an option to purchase alcohol as well.
BEWARE OF MOTION SICKNESS:
I was so nauseous on the entire ride there. I stopped at a pharmacy and bought Dramamine, which helped TREMENDOUSLY. I also sat out the outside, on the way back to make sure I got fresh air.

We did so many exciting things while in Mexico, but one of my favorites was going to Coba to climb the pyramid!
I was so focused on enjoying my vacation that I did not take as many pictures, as I wanted to. Please scroll through the gallery to see what we were able to capture.
